Central Park Garage Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to our most commonly asked questions here at the shop.

Q: Do I need to get all of my maintenance work done at my dealership to validate my warranty?

A: No, in accordance with the Moss Act, unless the dealer offers his service for free, he cannot require you to have your vehicle serviced there to maintain your warranty.

Q: If I have work done on my vehicle with you, what is the warranty?

A: All services and repairs at Central Park Garage come with a standard 12 month/12,000 mile warranty on all parts and labor. We offer and extended warranty of 24 months/24,000 miles for a nominal fee.

Q: Do I need an appointment for a State Inspection?

A: No, you don't have to have an appointment, but we can set one up to insure you will be serviced at a specific time. We always take inspections on a first come, first served basis around our other scheduled work.

Q: How long should I expect to wait for an Inspection?

A: Normally, you should expect to wait about an hour for a full inspection to take place.

Q: Why does it take so long for an inspection?

A: At Central Park Garage, we are concerned about your safety. A thorough examination of your vehicle will assure us that these concerns are met. We inspect steering, brakes, suspension, and tires to make sure your vehicle is safe before we “pass” it.

Q: If I fail a State Inspection, do I have to have the work performed at your shop?

A: Although we would prefer to do the repairs and we will provide a written estimate to do so, you are free to have the work preformed at a facility of your choosing.

Q: If my vehicle fails inspection, and I do not choose to have the repairs done at that time, do I have to pay another fee to have the sticker put on after the repairs are done?

A: No, as long as you return within 30 days, there is no charge to “re-inspect” your vehicle. If more than 30 days have elapsed since your initial visit, the vehicle will need to be inspected as if this was the initial visit. However, in certain situations, even if it has been more than 30 days, there may be no additional charge.

Q: Do I have to register my car for the upcoming year before I can have it inspected?

A: No, as long as the registration is “valid” your vehicle may be inspected. Another xample is, if your registration expires on September 30, and you have not re-registered your vehicle, it may be inspected on September 30, but not any time after that date.

Q: What if I need a ride during my repair or inspection?

A: We would be happy to bring you home, to work, or to any of the shopping centers within Dover or Somersworth.

Q: My steering wheel shakes at highway speeds, do I need an alignment?

A: Wheel shimmies are an indication that a tire is out of balance and not an alignment issue.

Q: Do you install aftermarket and customer parts?

A: Unfortunately, we do not. For us to stand behind the work we do, we have to make sure that quality parts are being installed.
